Great Ocean Road © 2011 Rose Bygrave
Pack the car on Sunday
Then on the Monday… first thing
We’ll drive away
I'm hoping that the sun will light the road up
For us today
We'll stop at the Torquay pub and talk awhile
And maybe have a beer
A counter lunch as cheap as chips
Would get you through the night before or so I hear
Seems like the longest time
Since we were here like this
Been around the world for nearly 20 years
But it's like we never left
Driving down the Great Ocean Road
Do you remember Lorne and Kennet River
Golden beaches on the way (All along the coast)
We might make the lighthouse at Cape Otway
If we drive all day and you can drive the most
Seems like the longest time
Since we were here like this
Been around the world for nearly 20 years
But it's like we never left
Driving down the Great Ocean Road
And Joe at the Pacific
And Christos at the Greek are they still round
And everyone who came to hear
Some might be lost some might be found
Seems like the longest time
Since we were here like this
Been around the world for nearly 20 years
But it's like we never left
Driving down the great Ocean Road

The Distant Child © 2011 Rose Bygrave
My given name is Ruthy Lee
I’m just little lamb you see too little to be lost
But daddy dear I love so much
Gets angrier as the days go by and I do bear the cost
My shoes they are by far too small
Blisters bleed every time I walk when on my own I crawl
You see I am the distant child
I have no friend to comfort me to comfort me at all
I long to run so very far
I shed my shoes and shed my scars
My name would shine like the burning sun
I’d burn this life and begin again
Ash to ash and dust to dust it would all just blow away
My given name is Ruthy Lee
Ruthy Lee Ruthy Lee Ruthy Lee
Mother died when I was three
I had no mother’s hand to hold no mother stood by me
Tried to learn for a little while
But distant child not clean enough to gather in a smile
I wish I wish that I could fall
Into a place outside these walls
My name would shine like the burning sun
I’d burn this life and begin again
Ash to ash and dust to dust it would all just blow away
My given name is Ruthy Lee
